NH Gym Rats announces 7 Boys Teams for 2016 Spring Season

The New Hampshire Gym Rats has named their basketball roster for the 2016 AAU Spring Season. This year the NH Gym Rats will be fielding seven boys basketball teams. There were over 118 young people who tried out for this season.

u10 – You are 10 years old on August 31, 2016

Girls

2016 Spring Season New Hampshire AAU Basketball Tryouts

Boys and Girls 4th-11th grade are invited to tryout for NH Gym Rats – New Hampshire AAU basketball teams for the 2016 Spring Season.

We are are excited about the upcoming spring season for NH Gym Rats – a New Hamsphire AAU Basketball Club. Last year we fielded 12 teams with over 115 players and we’re looking forward to adding teams and players in this upcoming season.

 

Tryouts are Closed for 2016 Spring Season

Tryouts

Preregistration Deadline –  January 30, 2016.  Walk-ins are also welcome but please arrive early if registering onsite. Tryout fee is $20 for new players, $10 for players returning from the fall season and free for players who tried out but didn’t make a team this past fall season. Online preregistration begins on December 11, 2015.

Spring Tryout Sessions for New Hamsphire AAU Basketball January 23, 2016 (final tryouts on January 30) at Conant High School Pratt Gym tryout times have been assigned to specific age groups.

February 1, 2016 Players for Spring Season Announced –  All players will be placed on teams based on AAU Eligibility rules for Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball)

 (attendance is mandatory)

  • Learn about coaching philosophy, expectations of players, parents and coaches, ask questions
  • Uniform Fittings
  • Order Fan Gear for parents, players and friends.
  • First payment – $185 – for tournaments and fees is due (make checks payable to NH Gym Rats)

Spring Season

Participation Fee  The Player Participation fee for 4th-11th grades will vary by team and will be based on the number of tournaments your team chooses and the number of players on your team. Fee will include the following:

    • Tournaments
    • Weekly practices and/or skill development sessions
    • Player Insurance
    • Dedicated Coaches
    • AAU Player Membership Fees (if needed)
    • AAU Club and Coaches fee

Additional costs as required: $75 new uniform

Traveling Expenses All costs associated with travel to and from tournaments such as transportation, food and hotel stays are the responsibility of the players/parents.

Practice Teams will practice weekly. Practice times will be scheduled based upon availability of gyms, coaches and trainers. Each individual player is expected to attend all practices and to practice basic skills at home every day.

* Financial assistance may be available for certain circumstances of financial hardship. Families must apply and be qualified to receive assistance. Please email for an application. All scholarship requests are kept confidential.

*All placements on the teams were decided upon by the coaching staff.  Unfortunately we did not have enough players to field a 10U or 12U Boys teams.  We were not able to secure any other Girl’s coaches for the Fall so tryouts for the Girls teams were not held.  The one existing 5th Grade Girls team listed qualified for their placement from 2015 Spring Tryouts.  Our three additional Girl’s coaches will be back in the Spring of 2016.

Tournament play starts October 3, 2015

FEES: returning players $10.00/new players $20.00 (fees are non-refundable)

The fall of 2015 looks to bring a great deal of excitement for all NH Gym Rats Basketball participants. This fall we are offering boys teams from 4th grade through High School and we will be limiting the team size to no greater than 10 players. The NH Gym Rats program focuses on fundamental skill development that takes players to the next level. We are NOT a recreational program and are looking for top notch players. Every effort will be made to ensure players have an opportunity to demonstrate their basketball abilities during the tryout period and will be evaluated on: Ball Handling, Shooting, Passing, Demonstrating a positive attitude, work ethic, knowledge of the game and satisfactory academic performance.

TRYOUTS!

Tryouts will be held at the ConVal High School Gym on August 29th, 2015.

9:00am   to   10:00am           10U & 11U Boys

10:00am to   11:00am             12U & 13U Boys

11:00am to   12:00noon          14U, 15U, & 16U Boys

Please be there 30 minutes before your scheduled time to Register.  Do not show up early and parents or legal guardian must be present during the tryouts.  Children must not be left unattended.

Tournaments, Fees & Practice

Tournaments

Players will attend to 3 or 4 tournaments over the course of the fall AAU season. All tournaments are within a 2-2-1/2 hour driving distance of the Peterborough/Jaffrey area and occur on Saturdays and/or Sundays.  The coach and Team Manager will select the appropriate number and location of tournaments. Once the tournament schedule is finalized, it is expected that players will attend all tournaments. (Tournament dates are subject to change.)

Participation Fee 

The Player Participation fee for 4th-10th grades will be determined based upon the number of tournaments your team will attend .  Approximate costs will be between $200-$260 . For those players who need a new uniform the cost will be an additional $65 for a custom reversible uniform.

  • 3 to 5 tournaments

  • A 50% deposit will be due once players are assigned teams. Balance is due upon receipt of uniform or 2 weeks prior to first tournament.

NH Gym Rats advance to sweet 16 at Division 3 National Championships

Rats started Nationals with a loss against Virginia Hoyas but went on to defeat Virginia Gainesville Elite 56-45; South Jersey Domination 61-60 and made it into Championship bracket play (top 32 teams). 

This morning NH Gym Rats defeated Allentown Pennsylvania’s Basketball IQ 58-48 to end up in the sweet 16 (best 16 teams in the nation in Division 3)
