Spring 2017 Age Requirements for NH Gym Rats Basketball

BOYS AGE/GRADE DIVISIONS

  • Boys divisions shall be based on age for 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U under the criteria listed below. The only exception  will be for 12U, 13U, 14U “A/Elite Divisions” which will go by grade
  • Age/Grade based divisions shall be used for the following: 15U/9th grade, 16U/10th grade, 17U/11th grade, 19U/12th grade.
  • 9 & UNDER: An athlete can not turn 10 until June 1, 2017 or later
  • 10 & UNDER: An athlete can not turn 11 until June 1, 2017 or later
  • 11 & UNDER: An athlete can not turn 12 until June 1, 2017 or later
    • For A/Elite Division at ZG MAJORS, an athlete must be in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2016 and can be no older than 12 on August 31, 2017
  • 12 & UNDER: An athlete can not turn 13 until June 1, 2017 or later
    • For A/Elite Division at ZG MAJORS, an athlete must be in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2016 and can be no older than 13 on August 31, 2017
  • 13 & UNDER: An athlete can not turn 14 until June 1, 2017 or later
    • For A/Elite Division at ZG MAJORS, an athlete must be in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2016 and can be no older than 14 on August 31, 2017
  • 14 & UNDER: An athlete can not turn 15  until June 1, 2017 or later
    • For A/Elite Division at ZG MAJORS, an athlete must be in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2016 and can be no older than 15 on August 31, 2017
  • 9TH GRADE: An athlete can be no older than 15 on August 31, 2017. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 9th grade as of October 1, 2016 and who is no older than 16 on August 31, 2017 is eligible to play in the 15U/9th grade division.
  • 10TH GRADE: An athlete can be no older than 16 on August 31, 2017. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 10th grade as of October 1, 2016 and who is no older than 17 on August 31, 2017 is eligible to play in the 16U/10th grade division.
  • HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY: An athlete can be no older than 19 on August 31, 2017. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 12th grade as of October 1, 2016 and who is no older than 20 on August 31, 2017 is eligible to play in the High School Varsity division.

 

GIRLS GRADE DIVISIONS

  • Grade based divisions shall be used in Girls divisions for the following: 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade, 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade,12th grade.
  • 3rd Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 3rd Grade and cannot turn 10 until after June 1, 2017.
  • 4th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 4th grade and cannot turn 11 until after June 1, 2017.
  • 5th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 5th grade and cannot turn 12 until after June 1, 2017.
  • 6th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 6th grade and cannot turn 13 until after June 1, 2017.
  • 7th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 7th grade and cannot turn 14 until after June 1, 2017.
  • 8th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 8th grade and cannot turn 15 until after June 1, 2017.
  • 9th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 9th grade and cannot turn 16 years old on the date of the competition.
  • 10th Grade: An athlete must be enrolled in the 10th grade and cannot turn 17 years old on the date of the competition.
  • High School Varsity: An Athlete MUST be a registered High School Student. The player must also be eligible under Nation High School Federation Rules

All registration should be done online, it’s only $10. If you register at the venue it will be $20.

REMINDER: Black Nike Uniforms Are Required for the Spring Basketball Season.

The 2016 Spring Season was the last season for using the red uniforms. For those players who need a black uniform the cost will be additional $110. All uniform orders will be handled by Bulldog in Keene, NH. A link to their online store will be provided once the store is available.

Player Fees for Spring Season

We try hard to keep our program affordable. The fees for the spring season should be between $250 and $300 and will be announced at the tryouts. Other similar programs like the NH Spartans’ season fee is $350+.

Every effort will be made to ensure players have an opportunity to demonstrate their basketball abilities during the tryout period and will be evaluated on: Ball Handling, Shooting, Passing, Demonstrating a positive attitude, work ethic, knowledge of the game and satisfactory academic performance.

Hope everyone is having a great summer! As I write this it’s 90 degrees outside, extremely humid and a huge thunderstorm is on the way. Though there’s still a good deal of summer left it’s time to start planning for basketball tryouts and the Fall AAU Basketball Season of 2016.

The NH Gym Rats program focuses on fundamental skill development that takes players to the next level. We are NOT a recreational program and are looking for top notch players. Basketball Tryouts

Basketball Tryouts will be held at Conant’s Pratt Gym on Saturday September 10, 2016.

On-site cost is $20.

2016 Spring Season New Hampshire AAU Basketball Tryouts

Boys and Girls 4th-11th grade are invited to tryout for NH Gym Rats – New Hampshire AAU basketball teams for the 2016 Spring Season.

We are are excited about the upcoming spring season for NH Gym Rats – a New Hamsphire AAU Basketball Club. Last year we fielded 12 teams with over 115 players and we’re looking forward to adding teams and players in this upcoming season.

Preregistration Deadline –  January 30, 2016.  Walk-ins are also welcome but please arrive early if registering onsite. Tryout fee is $20 for new players, $10 for players returning from the fall season and free for players who tried out but didn’t make a team this past fall season. Online preregistration begins on December 11, 2015.

Spring Tryout Sessions for New Hamsphire AAU Basketball January 23, 2016 (final tryouts on January 30) at Conant High School Pratt Gym tryout times have been assigned to specific age groups.

February 1, 2016 Players for Spring Season Announced –  All players will be placed on teams based on AAU Eligibility rules for Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball)

Spring Season

Participation Fee  The Player Participation fee for 4th-11th grades will vary by team and will be based on the number of tournaments your team chooses and the number of players on your team. Fee will include the following:

    • Tournaments
    • Weekly practices and/or skill development sessions
    • Player Insurance
    • Dedicated Coaches
    • AAU Player Membership Fees (if needed)
    • AAU Club and Coaches fee

Additional costs as required: $75 new uniform

Traveling Expenses All costs associated with travel to and from tournaments such as transportation, food and hotel stays are the responsibility of the players/parents.

Practice Teams will practice weekly. Practice times will be scheduled based upon availability of gyms, coaches and trainers. Each individual player is expected to attend all practices and to practice basic skills at home every day.

* Financial assistance may be available for certain circumstances of financial hardship. Families must apply and be qualified to receive assistance. Please email for an application. All scholarship requests are kept confidential.
